Welcome to the first part in my quest to get together a fully painted Night Lords army. The Road to Damnation's first quest will be to get a small 500 point force up and running! Luckily, I've already started.

As squads are finished, I'll do up some fluff and background for each of them, hopefully culminating in some background lore or more about the force as a whole.

It's been quite a while since I've actually played a game of Warhammer 40K, so I thought this could be a fun tabletop adventure...besides, I bloomin' love Night Lords! Also, it'd get me rolling some dice and dusting off the dust from my wargaming days!

My 500 points will be set up with a Battalion detachment in mind.

First up is my Chaos Lord with Jump Pack. I'm aiming to run him as a close combat mincing machine. So he'll be armed with twin lighting claws. Stormbolt Plate (artefact) and probably using the Killing Fury Warlord Trait (could possibly change).

Fluffy and I've got the model painted already! Now to just come up with some fluff for him.

For my second HQ choice for the Battalion, I have a Chaos Sorcerer with Wings. This fella will be rocking the Diabolic Strength and Warptime powers. The model for this is based off of the Astorath the Grim model with a little added chainglaive - which I will be counting as a Power Axe. This fella will also get me used to playing around with psychic powers too, which could be a lot of fun!

Next we're moving onto the troops. I'll be using a 11 person Cultist unit and 2 small squads of Chaos Marines. The Cultists will be bare bones...they're too busy tr

ying not to catch the eye of their evil overlords to find new toys!

The first Chaos Marine squad is about 70% finished. They'll be rocking an autocannon and the Aspiring Chamipon will be using a chainglaive (chainaxe) and a power sword. Now whilst not the most meta setup, but the rule of cool will be enforced in almost every part of my force.

Second Chaos Marine squad is the exact same minus the power sword...and paint...and also not being assembled yet.

The cultists are about a third of the way done now. I think they'll be a key

focus to get finished up and the minis are based off of House Cawdor from Necromunda. I've also been quite tempted to sneak some Genestealer Cult minis into the unit. I'll maybe do up some fluff a ship and the Night Lords are too preoccupied to notice (or they probably just don't care). Maybe they're all part of an evil plan?! It's an idea I've been playing around with to make use of the Genestealer units I have - but we shall see!

Finally, I have one Fast Attack slot and that's a unit of Warp Talons and big surprise, they're actually painted! These were actually what kicked off my path to collecting Night Lords. I received some good news so picked up a box of Raptors and thought I'd try out a Night Lords scheme. So many variations of the scheme have come along and here we are.

The aim of the force is to use the Troops as board control and objective holders. The Sorcerer, Lord and Talons will act as the Vanguard and get most of the flaying in. Well in my head this is how it will hopefully work!

I was tempted to squeeze in my Contemptor instead of the Talons and drop the sorcerer for something cheaper. However, the Warp Talons deserve to be in the opening list because they were there at the beginning. I also want to run a Sorcerer to give the psychic phase a go. There's always the next 500 points to squeeze it in!

So there's what I have lined up for my first 500 point force of Night Lords. I have no idea if it'll work, but it seems fun, fluffy and I have most of the units in some form of progress already.

I'll keep this updated each week to see how the progress on the force is going. So please follow along and let me know what works and doesn't work on this hobby adventure, all are welcome on The Road to Damnation.
